Location: Washington, DC

Today, Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) issued subpoenas to three agencies that have refused to comply with requests for information needed to continue active investigations. Following the Chairman's announcement, U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce issued this statement:

"This is another example of the Obama Administration not providing information that Congress and the public have every right to see and review," stated Pearce. "Over months -- and in some instances -- years, the House Financial Services Committee has reasonably requested documents and other records from these three federal agencies. The Committee has a duty to hold these agencies accountable to hardworking taxpayers. Since they have completely stonewalled, subpoenas for the documents are the appropriate response. Established by the rules of the Committee and the House, under both Republican and Democrat committee leadership, subpoenas provide a bipartisan safety-valve to ensure effective and efficient oversight of federal agencies."
